Help Wanted: USA Powerlifting New Hampshire State Referees

Lifters, did you know that there is a new USA Powerlifting State Referee Exam that you can take online, rather than having to schedule time at the next local meet?

It’s still an open book test using the USA Powerlifting Rule Book, and you still have two hours to complete the test, but now you can choose to take it at a time that is more convenient.

You’ll find out if you pass with a score of 80% or higher immediately upon submitting the test. Once you pass, the next step towards becoming a state referee is to take the practical exam.

During the practical exam, you will sit with an experienced referee at a local meet and judge 100 lifts consisting of 40 squats, 30 bench presses, and 30 deadlifts. To pass the practical exam, you will need a score of 90% or higher. You will also know the results of your practical upon completion. The final step is to receive your CORE Safe Sport Certification.

To qualify to become a state referee, you must be:

• At least 18 years of age.
• A current member of USA Powerlifting.
• Actively involved in the sport of powerlifting as an athlete, coach, meet director or scoring table official for at least one year.

USA Powerlifting New Hampshire is looking for more state referees to join our incredible team. If this is something you have been considering, please know we need you. The next meet available for taking the practical exam is the 2019 USA Powerlifting New Hampshire & Vermont State Championship.

USAPL NH is in need of 2 more spotters/loaders for the NH/VT Championship Meet on April 20th. We would like to have volunteers who can stay throughout the day, however if you would like to volunteer and can only help for either the morning session or the afternoon session, we would be happy to have you! Spotters and Loaders are an important part of our meets and they help to ensure the safety of all of our lifters. Although spotting/loading experience is not necessarily required, it is preferable that you have experience working a prior meet. Spotting and loading is not an easy job, and it requires some hard work- all volunteers will be compensated with a stipend for the day and will also receive a Meet T-shirt as well as a "welcome bag" filled with snacks and samples.
